Grow bags are an interesting and
popular alternative to in-ground gardening. They can be started indoors and moved
out, re positioned with the changing light, and placed absolutely anywhere. If
the soil in your yard is poor or just nonexistent, grow bags are a great
choice. Durable grow bags are ideally suited for Culinary Herbs, spinach's and
other small vegetables plants. These grow bags are suitable for Terrace
Gardening, Poly House and Horticulture purpose These bags comes in a wide array
of heights and widths, making them much more versatile and easily arrange able
than most hard plastic containers. It’s possible to create the illusion of
raised beds by simply placing a series of grow bags together in a large
rectangle. Unlike plastic containers, they fold flat and take up virtually no
space. Gardening with Grow bags are a perfect option if you have no space for
an in-ground garden. Image shown above is Indicative only; size may differ from

What is Grow Bag ?
Grow bags are lightweight, soft-sided fabric. Many are made
of polypropylene, some of hemp or burlap. Some bags are made from plastic
and look like a bag of compost; we avoid them and placed jute for grow bag.
They are an alternative to containers or pots. Because their sides are
soft you don’t get ‘root circling’ when the plants grow, and the soil can
breathe unlike in plastic pots. The term “grow
bags” is used for different types of plant holders. For instance, you can
buy plastic bags designed to hold plants, which don’t contain any soil or
growing medium. They’re essentially the same as plant pots, just more
flexible.

grow some herbs or some vegetables at home. What’s the easiest method –
especially if you don’t have a big garden, and are short of space?
In
pots, the roots of the plants tend to grow in circles entangling themselves.
This increases the likelihood of having oxygenation or water stagnation
issues, especially in larger pots that lack proper drainage. When the
roots reach the edge of a plastic pot they continue growing in search more
water and nutrients only to begin encircling the pot. This begins
the process of structural damage to your plants. The roots become
constricted leading to less water and nutrient
intake. The stem of
your plant will also become compressed which leads to tissue damage
further restricting nutrient intake.
When
growing in grow bags the roots will come in contact with the edge of the fabric
pot and sense the drier soil exposed to the air. At this point
they know they have reached their growth limit. The roots become
"air pruned" which is vital to growing healthy plants in containers.
This prevents over growth of roots eliminating girdling roots (roots
that damage the structure of the plant). You will also get many more
fibrous roots when air pruned. A more fibrous root system (many
small root tips) allows the plants to take in more nutrients and water.
Plastic potted plants encourage a few large roots to dominate
and encircle the pot which constricts nutrient uptake.
Here are some reasons why a
customer should choose a grow bag for growing their vegetables& flowers :
1. A grow bag will
squeeze into any small space, much easier than a rigid container, making it
ideal for use in tiny gardens, Grow bags can be tightly packed together,
thus reducing moisture loss and reducing the need to water.
2. Since you fill
your grow bag with compost, there is no digging or soil preparation involved.
This makes growing vegetables a quick and labour free activity. Grow bags
are re-usable, so at the end of the growing season you can rinse them out and
use them the following year.
3. You can buy
different grow bags in various sizes. Salad
grow bags for example, are meant for short rooted crops such as
lettuce, so they are much shallower than tomato
grow bags. This saves you money on compost and requires less
watering too.
4. When growing potatoes
in a grow bag, you can feel the size of the tubers by prodding the flexible
sides, so you don’t run the risk of harvesting your spuds when they are still
tiny! This is always a possibility when growing potatoes in the ground.
5. They are less
expensive than rigid containers, and a great alternative to a raised bed.
They are also portable, so can be much more easily moved than a wooden
planter.
